Caitlyn is a Ph.D. candidate in Molecular and Cellular Pharmacology. She is studying mitochondrial RNA processing in Dr. Daniel Bogenhagen’s lab. Outside of lab, she enjoys being on the trails whether that’s running or hiking, yoga, and reading. In the past, she’s been involved in science outreach through Pint of Science, Taste of Science, and New York Academy of Sciences. Last year she served as GWiSE’s media and event coordinator.
Mikaela is pursuing a Ph.D. in Materials Science & Engineering as a member of the Takeuchi Research Group. Her work focuses on using synchrotron-based characterization techniques, like X-ray Absorption Spectroscopy (XAS) and Energy Dispersive X-ray Diffraction (EDXRD), to better understand thick battery electrodes. When she’s not running experiments at the National Synchrotron Light Source II, she enjoys horseback riding, acroyoga, and learning krav maga. Last year she served as GWiSE’s website and blog administrator.
Ali is a Ph.D. student in the Materials Science & Engineering. She is a member of the Takeuchi Research Group, which focuses on battery chemistry research and technology. When she has the time, she enjoys reading, practicing yoga, and eating cannolis. She currently is a chapter liaison for She’s the First, where she works with campus chapters to further girl’s education in low income countries. Ali is returning to her role as GWiSE’s secretary from last year.
Gabby is a Ph.D. Candidate in the Molecular and Cellular Pharmacology program with an interest in Neuroscience. She is studying how subtle genetic changes can lead to Epilepsy in the Wollmuth-Hsieh lab. Outside of lab she enjoys attending the GWiSE book club!
Emma is a Ph.D. student in the Clinical Psychology Department. She studies risk factors that contribute to the etiology of psychopathology. She also works with psychophysiological measures to study developmental trajectories of reward systems. Emma enjoys traveling with friends, and she also loves swimming, skiing, and painting. Emma is returning to her role as GWiSE’s event coordinator from last year.
Roshni is a 2nd year Ph.D. student in the Physics and Astronomy Department.
